Stand, Sit, Kneel

Alright, so I was raised Catholic. My parents are both Catholic and in turn I was brought up to go to church and pray. But here's what confuses me. At church today I started thinking. Why must we stand when we are told to stand, why must we sit when we are permitted to sit and why must we kneel when we are supposed to kneel. It makes no sense. The idea of prayer is that it can be done anywhere, in any way, in any form. So if what we do at church is pray. Then why do we pray the way we are told to in church instead of praying in a way that makes us feel comfortable. It's like we're being told, 'unless you do what we say, then you're prayer won't have as much effect' and I think that's just taking the very idea and purpose of praying away from what it is. Why don't they have lying down as well then huh? That would be better. A nice row of beds in a church. Then we'd cover the whole spectrum (or at least a majority of it) in which people get into position for. I'll tell you, I'd rather pray upside down over a cliff then have to follow these 'rules' but alas, i have no such equipment to allow this. Oh well. C'est la vie.
